Clearway powers the Rosamond Central Solar Venture

Renewable Energy Owner and Operator Clearway Energy Group has completed construction and commenced commercial operations on the 192 MW Rosamond Central solar project in Kern County, California.

Rosamond Central is signed into power purchase agreements with East Bay Community Energy and the Clean Power Alliance. Both Community Choice aggregators offer a variety of power options to regional customers and the City of Palo Alto Utilities, which has managed Palo Alto's power grid, has been serving for 120 years.

"We are proud to continue to contribute to California's goal of 100% clean power and keeping the state at the forefront of climate leadership," said Valerie Wooley, vice president of origination, Clearway Energy Group. “Rosamond Central came together with the dedication and efforts of many partners, including McCarthy's quick action to create a safe working environment and the trust of East Bay Community Energy, Clean Power Alliance and Palo Alto to meet customer demand for low-cost renewables Energies. "

Construction on Rosamond Central began in February 2020 and was led by McCarthy Building Companies. More than 600 jobs were created during construction, and several permanent operations and maintenance works are being carried out on the site. The solar site also represents a $ 5 million investment in Kern County that will be generated through tax revenue to support public services in the area.

Rosamond Central will expand Clearway's presence in Kern County, where the company owns and operates 1,053 MW of wind and solar power and contributes approximately $ 20,000,000 in property taxes annually to the local economy.
