If the calendar is dealing with the new month next week, there is an additional guarantee for solar energy and hot water systems that were installed as part of Victoria’s Solar Homes program.
What changes with the guarantee requirements?
In addition to guarantees by the manufacturers, the Victorian solar retailers were obliged to ensure a five-year guarantee of System 1 for all legitimate systems that are installed for some time as part of the program. However, the requirements were expanded to workers from September 1, 2025.
“This requirement continues to strengthen consumer protection and enables retailers and manufacturers to determine the most suitable commercial agreements together in order to carry out the necessary guarantee insurance,” said Solar Victoria2 in an e -mail -update sent yesterday.
As part of the entire system guarantee, customers must not pay in advance or occur with expenses associated with a successful warranty claim, such as: B.:
- Parts or materials.
- Labor costs.
- Related inspections or costs.
- Fracht, transport, insurance or special designs.
- Disposal of incorrect equipment.
Other guarantee responsibility (also for owners)
Solar retailers are required that provide the customer documentation that confirms the conditions of the entire system and product guarantee and to whom a system or a product should fail.
Retailers must also take responsibility for the components related and installed in such a way that the guarantees are not invalid. For example, some panel manufacturers can do their panels no less than x meters from the coast, and it is due to the retailer to know and observe this.
However, the consumer is that products are waited for maintaining the guarantee in accordance with the requirements of the product manufacturer. Before you choose a specific product, it is advisable to check the small print for relatives (and sometimes ridiculous) maintenance conditions.
In this sense, in which guarantee conditions a manufacturer or retailer are used, it does not exceed the Australian Consumer Act (ACL). But having to go to the ACL path to make amends is an anger that is best avoided – it is a ounce of prevention compared to a pound of healing situation.
Solar Victoria Compliance measures
The latest e -mail update from the agency also mentioned several enforcement measures in July.
- There was a reference and a warning for which the retailer was responsible for the uncertain labor practices of the outsourced installers of a company.
- A 3-month suspension for a company that submits discount applications on behalf of customers, which can lead to the fact that discount claims are refused or recovered.
- An authorized retailer was immediately suspended for fraudulent activities in the VEU program Victorian Energy Upgrades (VEU).

July a “strong month” – especially for heat pumps
Solar Victoria said that applications, permits and installations grow in July. Heat pump heating systems were (again) an outstanding actor who has monthly program volumes. Last month the best July was for hot water permits and installations.
Since the beginning of the program in 2018 and the end of July 2025, the installation results have been:
- 321,059 solar panel systems
- 65,610 Solar sun water systems (including heat pumps)
- 20,836 Solar battery systems (the loan scheme for batteries ended in May 2025).
Which incentives are offered for solar houses?
The Solar Panel discount from Victoria currently offers up to 1,400 US dollar discount at the costs of a solar power system and can be claimed together with the National Solar discount.
Discounts of up to 1,000 US dollars are available for eligible heat pump and solar hot water products. However, if a locally manufactured product is used, the discount can be up to $ 1,400. In addition, a VEU discount can be used. With a value of up to 910 US dollars when replacing a conventional resistance electrical water system or when replacing a gas system up to 700 US dollars.
