Millions of solar collectors are expected to be expelled due to the federal government’s battery. But do you really have to throw your system into the container, and if so, what should you replace it?
The sum of Labor’s cheap Home Batteries program was all about winning the elections, but interest has now been switched to the storage of electrons.
The Smart Energy Council assumes that around 15 million solar collectors will be triggered when people improve their systems with the battery discount.
But does it mean getting a battery, it’s time for a whole new solar system? Well, it will sound like a political answer, but really; it depends on.
Even with the discount, good batteries are expensive
Although our promised new state incentive is an incredible interest, you still need a reasonable part of private investments to secure good.
The work to install is a significant part of the costs, regardless of the size, so that you do not want to blow a limited state incentive on a disappointingly small battery.
Conversely, if your solar is small and you do not have enough yield to fill the battery on an average day, the money spent can have an overwhelming return.
In order to achieve the best return, your battery must be properly dimensioned in order to meet your habits now, and more to satisfy the direct consumption and heat water.
Solar monitoring data can provide insights into your current production and your current consumption, and whether a battery is worthwhile. In this example, Green is self -consumption, so that there is a lot of blue -blue energy under the curve that can be kept for later.
Mean your solar for Intel
If you monitor your existing solar system, it is a real pot with gold that you or your installer can take advantage of data.
Even the most basic solar inverter will have a counter for the kilowatt hours produced. Share this by the number of days since it was installed to receive an average daily yield. Take the average daily export that appears on your electricity bill, and the rest is how much solar you are self -consumption.
It is difficult to say how much of your consumption is overnight, but you will at least get a feeling for the numbers.

Advantages and disadvantages of a solar upgrade
If your solar power system is old, there are still good reasons to leave it on the roof to continue your good work. Throwing things into the trash can just because they are not shiny enough is a curse for all of us.
With an AC-coupled battery like Tesla Powerwall 2 or sun battery, your legacy system can be a completely good solar source.
Inverters are more reliable than the insulator burned here, but age and quality are worth it if you look at whether an upgrade is entering.
If your solar power system is old, there are some equally good reasons to replace it, last but not least, the chance of eliminating the fire risk that the insulator is on the roof.
New solar offers a new guarantee, current surveillance and larger electricity density. And of course you can add more panels because more solar is more. No matter in which direction, where you will fit, is good.

Solar arrangements can be kept
Suppose you are high -quality, well -installed and existing electrical tests, your solar array can carry out some “minor repairs” to connect it to a new inverter.
However, note that some installers are not pleasant to offer a guarantee for Legacy Solar. They consider it a risk for the new inverter and their reputation.
Electricians can be conservative, but it is not wrong to quote the Australian Solar standard AS5033 and point out that the rules for the cabling continued over the roof so that they quote a completely new, fully compliant, latest specification system.
We will lose some good soldiers
Even if your solar is not particularly old, it can be difficult to integrate new components and bring everything into the current standards.

Hybrid inverters are the new black
For more than a few reasons, the installers quote new hybrid inverter that can integrate into a battery.
- Since the rules for the new battery incentive are still complete, most hybrids can now be installed with a battery that was simply added after July 1st.
- Hybrids can also be configured like an alternating current battery with or without additional solar -Dc -coupled, for additional capacity and black starting capacity
- Many hybrids can control a Legacy Grid Connect inverter, whereby the frequency shift is controlled during a failure (but without black stability)
Grunt
The most convincing reason for the installation of a new inverter may be the direct capacity that you can connect.
Some power distributors only allow 10 kW inverter capacity per connection. The use of enphase as a sad example was able to have a 5 -kW solar generator only a 5 -kW safety capacity and a 5 -kWh battery.
While sun woman (below the same 10 kW per phase connection limit) 10 kW inverters (for large fuses) 20 kW solar and 76 kWh or storage could have.
If you keep your old inverter, you can upset your future plans.
Unconcerned ecosystems
If you want to monitor a valuable story and keep everything together and keep it visible in an app, it is worth sticking to a single brand. For example, Sungrow can appear a series of separate inverters in the same place under the same monitoring.
Fronius has a great EV charger that will integrate seamlessly into the intelligent solar lading and a hot water controller.
However, if you want some annoying examples, Sungrow currently does not offer EV charger, 1 Solar Edge has no EV charger that is compatible with the OCPP, and without software from third -party providers is Teslas EV -Charger stupid.
Goodwe has a beautiful EV charger, but preferably with a catch control consumption meter to avoid connectivity problems.
The Catch Control can sometimes put together a salad of different devices, but in any case it is about having a great installer who understands the hardware you use and is ready to solve problems when you occur.

Efficiency is king
You do not need a special government department to realize that the cheapest kilowatt hour is the one you didn’t have to use at all.
If winter is in and the sunny times decrease, solar energy to the power supply of your house is limited, while the need of the residents knows no limits for heat and appetite for electricity.
Heat pumps, reverse cycle climate system, no matter how you call it, the cooling can take warmth from the outside and put them down wherever you want it to be so efficient that it is like voodoo.
If you can keep the designs and the heat away, your entire house with gap sealing, window cladding and insulation will be more convenient and cheaper.
