Sungrow, a global provider of inverter solutions for renewable energy, has completed a 127.5 MW solar array in Wapello, Iowa and provided 34 inverters for the project.
The Wapello Solar project, developed by Clēnera, a privately owned renewable energy company, and built by RES, continued without delay despite construction commencing during the COVID-19 pandemic. As the largest solar project in Iowa, Wapello Solar recently went into commercial operation.

"This project is a real credit to all construction workers, suppliers and stakeholders who have worked tirelessly to reach the finish line."
The project spans nearly 800 acres in Louisa County and includes 318,000 Risen Energy bifacial solar panels attached to FTC Solar's Voyager single-axis trackers. Louisa County is already realizing the economic benefits with expected tax revenues of $ 5.2 million.
The Central Iowa Power Cooperative (CIPCO) obtains the demand and the energy from the plant under an exclusive 25-year power purchase agreement.
