WA SOLAR BATTERY DAY SUSSIGHT SUSSENTITIBITIG GOOD

Despite the swallowing and protests in connection with the Western Australia battery scheme, there was great interest in the discount.

How many WA -SOLAR -BATTERIE -DABAT applications so far?

According to WA Minister for Energy and Dekarbonization Amber-Jade Sanderson, there were 8,800 applications from households throughout Western Australia on August 21, 2025. With over 5,500 of which “already on the way to installation”.

How the Scheme saga took place

A few weeks before the state elections in Western Australia in March, Premier Roger Cook signaled the intention of WA Labor, Battery discount for synergy customers and up to 7,500 US dollars for Horizon Power Customers as part of a state system. This would be communicated as part of a battery installation of an optional, optional non-interest-bearing loan of up to $ 10,000 for additional or replacement solar modules.

The solar tap batteries installed as part of the scheme would have to be able to be able to virtual power plant. But the VPP connection was not mandatory.

The promise hung on WA, which after the state elections regained power what it did. The program was to start on or before July 1, 2025 and to benefit 19,000 synergies and up to 1,000 customers of Horizon Power – 20,000.

But the federal work then promised a national battery discount when it won the federal elections; And the party was victorious. The question then was whether the WA discount could be claimed next to the national battery grant and if so how things would work.

At the beginning of June, just a few weeks before both programs started formally, the Cook government carried out some new calibration in its program.

  • Reduced to up to 1,300 US dollars for Synergy customers ($ 130 per kWh of battery capacity up to 10 kWh).
  • Reduced to up to 3,800 US dollars for Horizon Power Customers1 ($ 380 per kWh capacity of up to 10 kWh).
  • The number of discounts has been expanded to support up to 100,000 households.
  • Connection to a VPP mandatory.
  • WA -Subvention “Stackable” with the national discount.
  • Households with a combined annual income of less than $ 210,000, which is entitled to a loan of zero interest from USD $ 10,000.

Discount that is confirmed?

We saw a significant setback from commentators here on solar quotes about the changes, but as Minister Sanderson emphasized in their latest comments on the state parliament regarding the original Scheme design:

“This means that our entire allocation until the end of the year would have been exhausted and that it would have been best dressed in the first place for those who missed it.”

And mandatory in terms of the VPP connection:

“It enables us to synchronize this demand and batteries in times of peak requirement, which means that we will be able to have more flexibility in the grid and to enable the network to stabilize the network, instead of all solar collectors who put energy into our grid during the day when nobody used it and all come home and come to the grid on the summit on the summit intervenes. “

But in contrast to some other states, WA -discounts have little choice in VPP programs, with one for Horizon customers (Horizon Community Wave) and two for synergy customers -Synergy Battery Rewards and Plico Energy’s VPP.

Hardware selection grows (oh so slow)

Another thorny problem with the scheme is how long it takes to get hardware about the supported solutions from Synergy and Horizon Power. Which is required for the authorization of the state discount.

Shortly before the program went live, 26 technology provider applications were received, but the program started with only one handful.

Until August 21st, only eleven were on the list of Synergy and seven on Horizon Power. Sigenergy’s Sigenstor was finally performed on August 22nd by Synergy. In view of the popularity of Sigenergy equipment, it will be interesting to see whether its admission offers a significant buoyancy for the transfer rates. But like this morning, another very popular brand, Tesla, is still nowhere to be seen.
