Another 5,000 discounts are available for legitimate residential, unit and city dwellers to install solar power systems as part of the third round of the 32 -million dollar program from Victoria.
How much do the discounts cost?
Discounts of up to 2,800 US dollars per household or up to 140,000 US dollars per building are made available to the Victorian owner company (OCS) with at least 5 and a maximum of 50 lively properties. As with most “discount programs” associated with solar, this is actually a discount in advance. The discounts are paid directly to the retailer and deducted from the final invoice, whereby the owner companies pay the outstanding credit to the retailer.
Solar for the authorization of the apartments
Under the criteria authorization:
- The building cannot be more than 8 floors from the ground floor, although some exceptions can apply.
- The website must have at least 5 and a maximum of 50 occupied plots, but some exceptions can also apply to the upper limit.
- Can not be an old -age village, a commercial building or belong to a municipal council, a real estate developer or a community apartment organization.
- Solar systems must demonstrate an amortization period within 10 years.
- Fair parts of the cost savings of the participating residents.
- Systems must be installed on sections of the roof that are common properties.
- Systems must provide electricity for residential plots directly behind the measuring device.

How many discounts have been approved so far?
The total number of rounds one and two is not clear. According to the Victorian government, more than 3,200 households have been used as part of the program since its introduction in February last year.
While a state program was supervised by Solar Victoria, funds were made available by the Solar banks initiative of the Albanese government, which is a national program. The Victorian program originally started in 2024 with 16 million US dollars, which then doubled.
“Regardless of whether you are in a house or in an apartment, everyone should be able to use our rich, cheaper, cheaper solar energy to burst the bills forever,” said the Federal Minister of Climate Change and Energy Chris Bowen. “We make it easier for the Victorians who live in apartments to use the advantages of our abundant sun – to reduce more houses with renewable energies and the prices for everyone.”
About 12 percent of the 2.5 million households of Victoria live in apartments, and around 65 percent of these households are tenants. The Victorian government says that approximately half of the current admission was associated with apartments that are rented.
While the admission was in Melbourne, the highest number of approved applications was previously in Merri-Bek (formerly City of Moreland), Port Phillip, Yarra and Darebin Local Government.
