The actual costs of 999 USD Solar + Battery offered

Only 999 US dollars for a fully installed 10 -kW -solar panel and 10 kWh battery system in Victoria? If it were just – the actual costs are much, much more.

Advertisements were recently achieved on Facebook and offer packages for solar power and home battery systems for what seems to be a thousand dollars at first glance. This should trigger suspicion immediately, since a PV + PV + anergie storage system of these capacities is professionally installed, which currently costs north of $ 18,000.

So what gives?

The small pressure on the displayed image shown above was * tiny * and barely readable. Here is the actual size of this small print:

There are advertisements like these that make me flowing for a good multi -focal glass. The small print reads (fat mine):

“The price for one-story, sheet metal roof, subway areas. Regional and double floor costs.

It is the “loan” bit at the end that is most problematic because the display is clearly 999 US dollars. The text in the post that accompanies the pictures also mentions “(according to Solar Vic -discount & loan)”, but this requires that clicking on the link “See more” in the post. And while you click the “Get Offer” button, you can also lead to a target page on which the loan -Gotcha is also unveiled. In my opinion, like this, this undermines trust in the Australian solar industry.

What does the full system cost?

The Solar Homes program of the Victorian government offers a subsidy and optional interest-free loan for solar power systems and an interest-free loan for batteries. Acceptance of authorization.

  • The Victorian Solar Panel discount is currently up to 1,400 US dollars.
  • An interest-free loan of up to $ 1,400 is also available for a solar power system. This is repaid per month (up to $ 29.16 per month) over 4 years.
  • The Victorian Solar Battery Loan is up to 8,800 US dollars. Also repaid monthly (up to $ 183.34 per month) over 4 years.

Overall, the customer pays:

$ 999 + $ 1,400 (solar loans) + $ 8,800 (battery loan) = 11,199 USD.

While the 11 -fold is the “fully installed” price that is prominently displayed, it is still suspiciously cheap.

Then there are questions about the quality of all hardware involved -for example, I found that a company uses images of batteries that are not part of their 999 dollar offer. The corners can also be reduced in installation and after-sales support in order to deliver such a low price. As a new seller approved by Energy Tech, as this special display shows, is not a guarantee of good installation or a post -sale service, and the general character of the advertisement also raises a question if the company is trustworthy.

What about all of these 5-star reviews?

Customer reviews can be a good way to measure a company – but not always. I do not say that this is the case with the installer who promotes your 5-star reviews, but problems in connection with reviews can generally belong:

  • Fake solar reviews – which are still widespread.
  • Incentive reviews.
  • Customers who submit highly valued ratings shortly after the installation before the problems begin and then do not submit a follow-up if they do this.
  • Customers who submit the bad reviews of third -party ratings that are put under pressure to reduce them.
  • A company that only specifies the number of good ratings in its promo – with the exception of the bad.
  • Many positive old reviews, but then something changes in the company and it will consistently receive bad reviews.

Regardless of whether you pay 11,199 USD or 18,000 USD (or more) for a 10 -kW solar and 10 kWh battery system, one way or a thing, this is a significant investment.

It is the key to being informed before the purchase decision. So find out everything you need to know about the purchase of solar power systems and the purchase of house batteries before you register in the dotted line. The small time investment could avoid serious heartache, headache and hip pocket pain on the route.

With a battery discount from the federal government, which is started when Labor wins the upcoming elections, this will undoubtedly trigger a wave of shady advertising – we have already seen an example. I also wonder if the program cheap home batteries with some of these 999 dollars currently advertised comes into play somehow. Consumers and supervisory authorities really have to be busy.
