SungRow & Solaredge Spruik Solar inverter Trade-in/Up/Up

Solar manufacturers SungRow and Solaredge continue to offer inverter (or up) programs in Australia if they update their systems to new hybrid inverter and/or batteries of the respective companies. This is how the programs work and what you can get.

Solve interior offer offering

Sungrow’s initiative, which was originally introduced at the end of June 2025, enables Australian customers to exchange their existing solar inverters via the company’s certified installation program in order to receive discounts for upgrading the hybrid inverter and the company’s SungRow battery systems.

Dozens of older solar inverter models of older solar inverters are entitled to the system, whereby the trading values between $ 500 for 2 kW inverter is up to $ 1,700 for around 20 kW units. The list contains the SG5K-D ($ 800 trade-in) and SG8K-D ($ 1,000.

The discounts are issued after the new system has been installed, the trade units are returned and received and all documents from SungRow have been checked and approved. A sangrow-certified installation program manages the entire trade process from submitting the application to the return of the trade in and the application of loans.

SungRow is currently a pilot program and can make it a long -term initiative, depending on the results. You can find more details here.

In June 2025, 870 GW worldwide were installed by SungRow Power Electronic Converters, and the company claims to use more than 400,000 residential systems in Australia.

“As one of the first commercial initiatives led by companies in the Australian energy sector in Australia, the program helps to set up a model for energy consumption, product consumption, recycling and regeneration,” says the company.

Solaredge inverter Tradeup deal

The Solaredge trading program has been around for a while. Tradeup is currently available when a one- or 3-phase-home battery and backup cutting point for solar slide is added to an existing solar-edged or apartment thread system.

As part of the program, an existing, eligible Solaredge inverter with a new one- or three-phase 10 kW or 5 kW, if preferred-a hom-hub universal inverter free of charge, which is delivered with a fresh 12-year inverter guarantee.

In addition, an older 3-phase inverter in Solaredge residential buildings can be replaced as part of the Tradeup program by two new phase inverter (Home Hub and Genesis) in order to meet inverter capacity phase-on weight requirements in some countries and regions.

How long will the trade not be clear. As early as 2024, the company stated that had been exchanged by December 31, 2025 or up to 1,000 inverters; But that may have changed since then.

In related messages, SolarDge announced his home hub universal 3-phase 10 kW inverters and new stackable DC-coupled modular 3-phase battery are planned this month for the company for the Clean Energy Council (CEC), with the programs starting from mid-November.

Key features of the Home Hub Universal 3-phase 10 kW inverter:

  • Model number: SE10K-RWB48
  • 3-phase protection (with backup interface).
  • Single -String design <13.3 kW.
  • 200% oversized (with batteries).
  • Connect up to 2 followers.

Important features of the stackable home battery:

  • Model number: BAT-05K48
  • Stackable modularly 4.85 kWh battery (1-5 parallel).
  • Maximum capacity: 24.25 kWh per home centers.
  • Scalable up to 72.75 kWh memory with 2x SE10K RWB48-followers.
  • DC coupled with AC-coupled ability.
  • 3-phase protection (with backup interface).

In combination with the National Solar Battery discount, there are considerable savings under both initiatives. The cheap home batteries program currently offers a preliminary discount on the purchase and installation of eligible energy storage systems of around 30%.

These manufacturer programs are an interesting step on some fronts – and encourage existing customers to stay in the components of the brands, and (hopefully) responsible recycling/disposal of returned solar inverter.

SungRow says:

“After the collection, the traded inverter becomes the property of Sungrow or its authorized recycling partners and is not returned. All environmental sales are treated responsibly via authorized channels.”

I am not clear how Solaredge deals with the old inverters who get it.
