Solar Victoria’s Home Battery Loan Loans Scheme ends

The Victorians who want to apply for an interest -free loan for a house battery facility are disappointed after the applications were closed yesterday.

The legitimate Victorians were previously able to apply for monthly battery loans of up to $ 8,800 over $ 4 years. In combination with the upcoming discount of the Batteries Batteries Batteries Bading Home Batteries program, this would have accessible to many other households.

But yesterday Solar Victoria pointed out that it no longer accepts applications1.

The state government’s original commitment was to help 10,000 Victorian households installing batteries. A discount of 3,500 US dollars was originally provided, but on July 1, 2022 it was reduced to 2,950 US dollars. Then the discount in mid -2023 in favor of the interest -free loans with an obligation to provide 4,500 loans.

“This goal has now been surpassed because hundreds of other applications have now been completed, which means that the installations of solar batteries will continue to grow in the coming months,” says Solar Victoria.

According to the agency, 20,000 applications for government battery discounts or loans have so far been approved.

“The incentives of Solar Victoria have stimulated the demand for batteries throughout the state, and now the Commonwealth government will continue this.”

For those who are waiting for their existing loan application, you can find more information here. This page also states:

“Customers are recommended that they should carefully take into account their purchase of a battery if they take into account the discount from the program of the Commonwealth government as specific details, including the approval criteria and the technical requirements, are subject to the regulations that are carried out and can change.”

The closure of the battery credit program was planned among the household papers of the Victorian government 2025/26 issued on Tuesday, May 20, in which the associated financing ended on June 30, 2025. It seems

Bye battery loans, hello more heat pump help

While the interest-free house battery loans are now off the table, the budget has intended $ 30 million for the support of an additional 27,000 households for installing solar and heat pump-hot water systems. This can be seen as batteries.

Discounts of up to 1,000 US dollars are available via the Solar Homes program and a VEU discount (Victorian Energy Upgrades) for eligible heat pump and solar heat water systems, which can be worth up to 910 US dollars when replacing an inefficient gas system if a conventional electric water system is replaced.

However, solar owners can also use an existing existing electrical hot water system by using a timer or a PV divert to improve excess solar energy during the day to heat their water.

Cheaper home batteries program update

During the topic of the batteries and the upcoming federal program, some of the Solarquotes team visited a related webinar yesterday, which was held by the Ministry of Climate Change, Energy, Environment and Water (DCCEEW) and the Clean Energy Regulator (CER).

There was nothing new that goes beyond what we already know. However, it is worth noting that the DCCEEW director Joelle Richardson has repeated that the “Stapability” (AKA Double Dipping) federal system allows state batteries subsidiaries. However, additional consumers and installers should check the authorization programs of state and territory programs whether there are additional conditions or exclusions under local scheme.

Some state programs, in particular the top production of New South Wales (PDRS), will require changes before the participants can be considered for both programs – but this is a matter for the responsible state government.

Wherever you are in Australia when you think about installing a home battery before the federal discount begins at 2 years, the Anthony Bennett of Solarquotes has some advice to be read.

Footnot

  1. Interesting loans for solar power systems and Victoria’s Solar Panel discount remain available.
  2. What the industry was repeatedly insured was okay and would maintain the authorization as long as the battery was not switched on before July 1, 2025.
