Leeward Provides Indiana Solar Mission To Renewable Portfolio
Tri Global Energy (TGE), a utility founder and developer of renewable energy projects, has agreed to sell two renewable energy projects – one wind and one solar – in Blackford County, Indiana, to Leeward Renewable Energy, a renewable owner and operator.
"TGE is driving the energy transition with renewable projects like this one in Blackford County," said John Billingsley, TGE chairman and CEO. “We look forward to working with county officials, our participating landowners, and our partners to make this significant investment in the community. Projects of this size require know-how and resources and that is why we consider Leeward Renewable Energy to be an excellent partner for the future. "
Both projects were launched by TGE in 2019. Blackford Wind will be able to deliver up to 200 MW and Blackford Solar will be able to deliver up to 150 MW. TGE and Leeward Renewable Energy will work with county, state and federal agencies to obtain the necessary permits and get the two projects under construction – operations are scheduled to begin as early as 2023.
Great Bay Renewables, a joint venture between certain funds established by affiliates of Apollo Global Management Inc. and Altius Renewable Royalties Corp. , offers license financing to support completion and financing of the project development by TGE up to the start of construction.
