ENMAX Takes $ 5 Million to Set up Solar Programs in Choose Group Halls in Calgary – 660 Information

CALGARY – ENMAX Energy is investing $ 5 million in solar energy systems in meetinghouses in Calgary.

The ENMAX Community Solar Fund, which is administered by the city, provides solar systems and hires craftsmen to install the systems.

The city says it will decide which meetinghouses will receive the installations.

“I think it will have a lot to do with which centers are actually able to put solar panels on the buildings because some are not properly planned, there are different roof structures, so figuring out which ones will be a process there are applicable and which are not, "said Peter Demong, Ward 14 Alderman.

According to Demong, this initiative will benefit the city in the long term and will serve to educate people about the benefits and simplicity of solar systems in buildings.

"The part I love the most is that it's a cost-cutting measure for those community associations and centers that are constantly lacking income," said Demong.

The average lifespan of solar systems is estimated at 20 to 25 years.

All selected centers are expected to have their solar systems completed by the end of 2022.
