Canadian Solar expands its portfolio to incorporate AI Vitality Storage Optimization Companies
Canadian Solar Inc., a solar technology and renewable energy company, has a strategic partnership and investment with Habitat Energy Ltd. closed, a UK-based company specializing in asset optimization services for battery storage using artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The partnership enables Canadian Solar to offer developers and owners of battery storage systems enhanced technology solutions to generate additional revenue from trade optimization, improve grid stability and contribute to a more efficient power grid.
“The power grid of tomorrow will not only be built by renewable energies and battery storage, but also primarily driven by artificial intelligence, big data, machine learning, cloud computing and many other technologies,” says Dr. Shawn Qu, Chairman and CEO of Canadian Solar. “We share Habitat Energy's belief that making battery storage affordable for retailers on a large scale is a critical step in ensuring a low carbon future and preserving our living space for generations to come. Through this partnership, we will further reduce risk for project owners and investors and improve returns, while contributing to a cleaner, more efficient power grid for global consumers. "
Habitat Energy's optimization services include a trading platform with extensive go-to-market opportunities for wholesale and balancing markets. Habitat Energy's proprietary software, PowerIQ, combines algorithmic forecasting and artificial intelligence to maximize asset performance and value.
According to Canadian Solar, the partnership will leverage its global size and reach to provide system solutions and assets with optimization and shipping services for the storage and solar solutions offered worldwide. It also builds on the current global rollout of the Habitat Energy platform and its established presence in the UK and Australia. Canadian Solar also provides long-term operation and maintenance services to its energy storage customers, including battery capacity expansion, guaranteed energy capacity, and performance warranties.
