Tindo Solar backs its 25-year panel guarantee with cash
Australian solar panel manufacturer Tindo Solar lives up to its name by offering eligible owners of its panels generous payment for valid warranty claims that result in panel replacement.
How does Tindo’s Premium Guarantee offer work?
In addition to a 25-year product warranty on all Tindo solar panels that covers components, transportation, removal and new installation, the company will pay a customer $1,000 for a valid warranty claim requiring the replacement of a Tindo N-Type solar panel.
The Premium Warranty currently applies to the Walara range, Australia’s first locally manufactured N-Type module. The older Tindo Karra series used P-type mono PERC cells. The additional warranty feature applies to qualified panels purchased after November 1, 2025.
Tindo panel owners must register their system for the Premium Warranty offer within 60 days of installation; Presentation of the original purchase invoice, installation date and address and proof of installation by a “CEC approved installer”. I’m assuming this means they are a *SAA accredited* installer, as the CEC (Clean Energy Council) abandoned this role when the accreditation system switched to Solar Accreditation Australia in May last year.
In the *very* unlikely event that, say, ten panels in a system fail, that doesn’t mean a $10,000 payment. The Premium Warranty provides a one-time payment of $1,000 per installation location for the entire warranty period.
Still, Tindo clearly has a lot of confidence in his equipment. The company states its panels:
“…only 1 in 200,000 fail, making our panels 200 times more reliable than the global average.”
According to the company, each solar panel goes through a rigorous quality control process before leaving the manufacturing facility in Mawson Lakes, Adelaide.
“Our panels are world-class and we complement this with a revamped aftermarket service,” said Richard Petterson, CEO of Tindo. “Owning a Tindo panel not only has worry-free equipment, but also worry-free aftermarket support.”

Australia’s only solar panel manufacturer
Tindo Solar was founded in Adelaide in 2011. The company opened a new factory in 2021 near the original Mawson Lakes facility, which currently employs around 60 people. In August this year, the company received $34.5 million in new financing from Solar Sunshot to expand its product range and support the expansion of its production from 20 MW to 180 MW per year.
The company is also eyeing a future “Gigafactory” that can produce up to 1 GW of modules per year. Tindo said the project would result in 230 direct jobs, 900 supply chain jobs and economic activity of around $300 million per year.
If you’re looking for Australian made solar panels, Tindo is the only show in town. However, because Tindo is manufactured locally and positions itself as a premium brand, the modules are significantly more expensive compared to products from Chinese competitors.
The SolarQuotes solar panel comparison chart lists an estimated suggested retail price of $260 for the 440-watt Walara. The same wattages from budget brands like Canadian Solar, Trina, Jinko, JA and Aiko cost around $120 to $140 each.
Tindo manufactures modules that use solar cells and various other components imported from overseas. However, the company is committed to increasing local content and has made some progress in doing so. Last year, the company signed a contract with Australia’s largest aluminum extruder to supply module frame materials.
The company is currently listed as a SolarQuotes recommended panel brand and Tindo solar panel reviews on SolarQuotes from Australian customers have been generally positive, averaging 4.7 stars based on a total of 131 reviews.
