Trina Solar delivers the primary 210 modules to the North American market
Trina Solar Co. Ltd., a provider of photovoltaic (PV) and smart energy solutions, announces that its first batch of Trina Solar 210mm cells and Vertex modules from the company's overseas facility in Thai Nguyen, Vietnam , was delivered.
With this shipment, Trina Solar will begin shipping its 210mm Vertex 550W high performance modules at full capacity worldwide. This makes Trina Solar the first solar company to deliver 210 modules to the North American market.
Trina Solar laid the foundation stone for its Thai plant in Nguyen in December 2020 and completed construction in five months. The new factory has a capacity of 3 GW cells and 4.5 GW of 210 modules. On May 15, the factory successfully manufactured the first batch of 210mm Vertex 550W high-power modules. Plans for the production of Vertex 400 W and 670 W modules are now on the program in the Vietnamese plant, with which the annual capacity can be increased to the equivalent of 3.5 GW of 210 cells and 5 GW of 210 modules.
For the solar PV industry, Trina Solar's Vietnam facility is the first overseas facility to produce advanced 210 cells and 550W modules. This fully automated system strengthens the efficient global delivery of Vertex modules by Trina Solar and can better meet the demand for 210 products across North America. With energy analysts predicting strong growth for utility-scale solar projects in the US in the coming decade, Trina Solar said the 210mm 550W modules can help project developers and financiers achieve high project value.
Trina Solar currently operates several 210 vertex cell and module factories in China and Vietnam, which are expected to produce more than 50 GW modules by the end of the year.
