Trimark provides SCADA portion of the world's largest solar + storage venture
Trimark Associates Inc., a utility that designs, installs and maintains utility-scale SCADA and metering systems, has said it has been selected to subcontract the SCADA portion of the Edwards & Sanborn project, the world's largest Solar + storage project.
The project is located in Kern County, California and is currently under construction. It comprises 1,118 MW of solar energy and 2,165 MWh of energy storage.
The project is owned by Terra-Gen while Mortenson Construction is the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contractor for both solar and storage. In addition to the SCADA portion of the project, Trimark contributions include weather stations, network equipment and a DLC (Dynamic Loss Compensation) system to meet the requirements of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA). Trimark will also provide complex metering equipment, including CAISO-compliant sales meters (under a separate contract with Electrical Consultants Inc.).
"We are very proud that Terra-Gen has placed their trust in Trimark to provide our expertise and capabilities to control and monitor Edwards-Sanborn, which will be the largest project of its kind in the world," said Mark Morosky , President and CEO of Trimark. "Terra-Gen has relied on Trimark for the past 20 years and can count on our team to lead them to success for the next 20 years."
The design phase is already under way. Installation is planned for early June. Construction on the site began this month and is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2022.
