Buffalo, NY – homeowners who use solar say that New York State is better for solar energy than many people think.
“Solar actually works very well in this climate,” said homeowner Sara Schultz. “It works well in cloudy days. You can have snow insurance and it still works. So there is a lot of misinformation about solar.”
And with increasing electricity costs, switching to solar can help more than just the environment.
“We really take care of the environment and want to lower our CO2 footprint,” said Schultz. “And then we looked at our electricity bills because we have geothermal energy that runs with electricity. And it was a lot higher than our neighbors.”
Although the strong loans for clean energy for residential buildings that will end homeowners to the election of Solar at the end of 2025, New York has its own incentives for the use of solar.
“It was a little expensive in advance, but we were able to receive a loan with low interest from Nyserda,” said Schultz. “And the nice thing is that one of these government loans is that it is the invoice payment. Basically, they pay their loans instead of paying their electricity bill.”
With the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, also known as Nyserda, the solar tax credit in New York Homeowners can provide a tax credit of 25% for the costs of solar systems up to $ 5,000.
“The economy makes sense,” said Ryan Calalesina, Senior Sales Consultant at Solar Liberty. “We can show people that ourselves can make it financially useful with the specific solar radiation that we get.”
Community Solar creates a loan energy for renewable energies on behalf of several customers, which is then received for their share of clean energy that is produced. That means there are opportunities for everyone to change.
“It’s worth it,” said Schultz. “And what? You help climate chaos, what is here now. So let us do it. Come on, people, do it.”
