Nextracker delivers NX Horizon Solar Tracker to Brazilian solar plant
Nextracker, a flex company, has been selected by Andrade Gutierrez, a Brazilian EPC company, and Elera Renováveis to deploy 830 MW of its NX Horizon solar tracker technology for Phase I of the Janaúba solar complex near the town of Janaúba, Minas Gerais, to deliver. Brazil.
When completed, the facility will be the largest of its kind in South America. Commissioning is planned for the beginning of 2022.
"We are very pleased to be working with Nextracker on the Janaúba solar system," says Patricio Pavez, General Manager for Renewable Energies at Andrade Gutierrez. "Nextracker's expertise in research and development in wind design, engineering, and proven bifacial gains ultimately led us to select the NX Horizon intelligent solar tracker."
NX Horizon is the single axis solar tracker of choice for projects larger than 45 GW worldwide and will help Elera Renováveis to maximize the performance of the Janaúba system while minimizing operating costs. Nextracker's regional office in Brazil will provide comprehensive support for the project with technical advice as well as commissioning, asset management and advanced data analysis services for preventive maintenance. Installation teams benefit from the Nextracker Installer for PowerworX Academy Installers to learn the best installation methods.
Brazil is one of the fastest growing solar markets in the Latin America region, partly due to the high irradiance and solar friendly policies. To date, the country has 7.4 GW of cumulative solar systems.
Nextracker is the selected provider of PV system technology and intelligent solar trackers for some of the largest solar power plants in the world, such as the 1 GW solar park Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum in the United Arab Emirates, the 838 MW plant in Villanueva, Mexico, and the 460 MW Western Downs facility in Queensland, Australia.
