Longi reveals Monster 510W living solar panel
The Chinese solar panel manufacturer Longi offered a look at his new line from hetero transition -Back contact modules with a capacity of up to 510 watts at Intersolar Europe last week. The Ecolife series still manages to sneak up to a suitable size for the roof systems in residential areas – but only.
According to Longi, the Ecolife series represents the only mass panels in the world so far, the heterojunction (HJT) and BC technology (back contact). Hetero transition cells have several layers of different types of silicon, so that more sunlight can be recorded. And as the term suggests, back contact includes all electrical contacts on the back of the cell.
Longi Ecolife series (LR7-54HJD/ LR7-54HJBB) Specifications:
- Bifacial
- Wattage front area – 470W – 510W
- Cells: 108 (6 × 18)
- Dimensions: 1800 × 1134 × 30 mm
- Weight: 23.5 kg
- Module efficiency: 23% – 25%
- Temperature coefficient of pmax: -0.26%/℃ ~ -0.24%/℃
- Double glass (2 mm front, 1.6 mm back)
- 30-year-old product guarantee and 30-year-old linear performance guarantee, which enables a maximum of 1% deterioration in the first year, then 0.35% annual rate afterwards.
The difference between LR7-54HJBB and the LR7-54HJD variants is the former is a full black module of up to 505 W, while the latter has a silver frame and is available in capacity of up to 510 W.
According to Longi, the Ecolife series from solar collectors will be available in Europe in August this year, but there was no mention of the availability elsewhere. I contacted the company to ask whether they are available in Australia and update this article if this information is available.

Longis Australian love relationship
Longi has been in the Solar production game since 2005 and joined the Australian market in 2017. Her panels quickly became popular here because the founder of Solarquotes puts it – “pretty cheap, damn good”.
For example, the comparison table of SQS Solar Panel lists the 440W Longi Hi-Mo 6 as an estimated sales price of only $ 130. Thanks to the (not sustainable) competition between the manufacturers, there are brands such as Canadian solar, Jinko, Steig and Trina with similar pricing for the same capacity bodies.
Since the new Ecolife area is advertised as a premium solution, the pricing per watt will probably be more than the Hi-Mo 6 suffered much more.
At the time of writing, we had 2,321 reviews in Longi Solar Panel Reviews from Australian customers. A total of 4.9 stars and 5 stars in the past 12 months.
But while Australian households generally seem to have been beaten by Longi Gear, the views of the installers about the brand do not seem to quite coordinate this atmosphere. At the Solarquotes Installer Choice Awards for the best solar collectors in 2025, Longi was again on the podium of the winner – ranking number 6.
A hard 2024, challenging Q1 2025
Longi recently returned a net loss of 8.62 billion CNY in 2024 of 10.75 billion CNYS in 2023. The company sent 74.32 GW last year. 17,673.59 million for the same quarter of the previous year.
ESG progress
In the company presentation of the company for 2024 and Q1 2025, Longi found firm progress in the ESG’s efforts (environmental, social and governance), with the share of the company used by the company in 2023 to 47.50% in 2024 of 31.10%.
With regard to the reduction of carbon emissions of scope 3, the company had set a target of 52% on the basis of 2020 and was reduced by 41.20% last year. As far as water consumption per unit is concerned, Longi determined a reduction target of 13.80% less than 2023 last year, but he managed to reduce 24.8% in 2024.
