Jinko Solar: Massive programs, increasing losses
The Chinese solar panel production by Molar Jinko Solar recently has another significant milestone for programs and first claimed another world. But it’s not all sunshine and puppies for the company.
How much solar panel capacity did Jinko send?
Jinkosolar published it last week for the first half of 2025 IT business highlights and explains that it was the first module manufacturer in the world to deliver a total of 350 GW panels.
Other cumulative shipment milestones on the street to this point.
- 300 GW: December 2024
- 200 GW: December 2023
- 100 GW: April 2022
Jinko Solar was founded in 2006 and started producing solar modules in 2009. It took 13 years to reach the first 100 GW for about 1 year and 8 months for the next 100 GW and 1 year for the following 100. So how high are the chances that the company will send even more this year? It seems unlikely – the company estimates that the module shipments in the range from 85 GW to 100 GW are in 2025.
With regard to the production capacity, the company awaits the following by the end of the year:
- Mono -Wafer: 120 GW
- Solar cells: 95 GW
- Sun collectors: 130 GW
Other business highlights for H1 2025
- A total of 41.8 GW were, with more than 60% of the markets overseas.
- The mass production of efficiency for topcon cells exceeded 26.5%, with the highly efficient series reaching 27.1%.
- Over 20 GW of highly efficient production capacity by the end of June.
Big programs, but big losses
The competition between China’s most important solar panel manufacturers was intense, and the problem with a race on the ground is that they may win. The losses of the company are also increasing during the spread of large programs.
Jinkosolar Co., LTDS unchecked financial results from and in the six months that ended on June 30, 2025, were also released last week. Operating turnover fell in the first half of 2024 from 47.25 billion RMB to 31.83 billion RMB in the first half of this year, whereby the loss before taxes of 4.21 billion RMB compared to a profit of 1.65 billion RMB in the first half of 2024 compared to a profit of 1.65 billion RMB.
Intervention of the Chinese government
The Chinese authorities have put large players under pressure to reduce production to end the price wars. According to China Daily, a thirteen strategy was announced at a meeting on July 3, chaired by the Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lenzeng:
- A procedure against Cutthroat Price Practices.
- Quality improvement initiatives.
- Accelerated expiry of the outdated production capacity.
(Good) solar collectors still as cheap as chips
Actions by the Chinese authorities do not mean that the prices for solar panel in Australia will soon increase in Australia. Budget-friendly panels, as they are produced by Jinko, can currently only cost $ 125 (retail) for a 440 W module.
To see how popular brands compete against each other in price and specifications, read the solar quotes -solar panel comparison table.
Jinko entered the Australian market in 2012 and its panels were a popular choice for solar systems at home. The reviews of Jinko Solar Panel here to solar quotas from Australian customers have achieved an average of 4.8 stars of more than 4,000 reviews in total. And in one sign, the company seems to maintain decent quality in the past 12 months at a low price of 4.9 stars (751 reviews).
We really have the choice in Australia when it comes to solar collectors, both in terms of range and pricing. But there are tricks and traps to avoid. For example, since Jinko panels are so cheap, they are sometimes used by Shonky installers -as well as other brands for good budgets. And it doesn’t matter how good or expensive solar equipment is, it can be destroyed by lousy installation.
