1 in four Australian properties now run on solar panels

With the recent boom in solar panels across the country, Australia recently passed a significant milestone with an incredible 1: 4 home now powered by solar panels.

In Parliament this week, Minister for Energy and Emissions Reduction Angus Taylor announced that we now have the highest amount of solar capacity per capita in the world.

Thanks to the federal government's STC program and record solar panel prices, Australians have tried installing solar panels and so many of us are now working from home.

With electric vehicles and battery storage, the way in which households generate, store and use electricity has fundamentally changed. It has also enabled Australian households to regain their energy independence as a large solar system with built-in battery storage basically eliminates the traditional electricity bill.

Australia is fortunate to have so much sunlight and we really took this opportunity to make a quick move to renewable energy. Australia now has 644 watts of solar capacity per person, which is the world leader.

With a one-time investment, households can eliminate their electricity bills almost year after year for decades. LG Solar Panels now have a 25-year product warranty.

Taylor also mentioned that Australia's use of renewable energy resulted in a 9% decrease in the retail price of electricity.

The benefits of solar energy for the price of electricity are often overlooked. On hot summer days, solar energy helps take the pressure off the grid when generation struggles to keep up with demand. On days when electricity generation typically struggled, solar power has helped power air conditioners and pool pumps, and directly lowered the wholesale price of electricity, which benefits everyone, whether they have solar power or not.

On a sunny day in summer, an average 6.6 kW solar system can generate an output of well over 30 kWh. This is usually enough to power the house with air conditioning and pool pumps. If you are conservative with your energy consumption during the day, excess solar power can be stored in a battery to keep your home running for the whole evening.

Within 12 months, you can save around $ 2,500 in electricity costs and around 6,000 kg of CO2 emissions with a 6.6 kW system, the equivalent of planting over 100 trees annually.

Residential solar power leads Australia's renewable energy revolution. If you don't have solar panels on your roof, give the Solaray team a call to see how much money you can save with a quality solar system:
